Porcelain veneers are made of thin shells of dental ceramic. These shells are reflective and color-matched to teeth for a natural look. The dental veneer treatment consists of several appointments. During the first appointment after your initial consultation, Dr. Hyder will prepare the tooth by removing a small amount of the tooth structure. This is to create room for the veneers and create a surface that it can successfully bond to. Several molds of your teeth will be taken. They will be used to create the temporary restorations and also sent to a dental laboratory where the permanent teeth veneers will be fabricated. When ready, the permanent veneers are bonded to the front and side of each tooth being treated. Porcelain veneers can last 5 to 10 years with the proper care. You can brush and floss veneers twice a day just like natural teeth.
